Hero Quest
Chapter 1: Random Encounter
Meanwhile, on a forested mountainside just outside the village, a young man was honing his skills. In his hands he held a double-edged sword nearly as long as he was tall, and in his heart he held a desire for greatness. His name was Derik. One day, Derik told himself, he would be a hero. That day would come sooner than he thought.
Looking up from the carcass of the wild goat on which he had just practiced his swordsmanship, Derik spied the sun lowering over the western horizon. I'd better head home soon if I want to make it before it gets dark, he thought.

Prologue: Resignation
A man stood on a cliff overlooking a small village. His silver hair clashed with his swarthy skin in a seemingly unnatural manner. On his right hand was a silver gauntlet, and on his right hip was a black scabbard that housed a curved sword. "Mr. Eric Fleming. You look well. What seems to be the problem?"
